Unit Training Assemblies
A UTA will be scheduled by the Unit Commander based on the availability of facilities and training opportunities. UTAs may be scheduled weekly, such as one evening each week; bi-monthly, such as every other Saturday; or monthly, such as one weekend each month, with Friday counting as one UTA, and Saturday and Sunday counting as two UTAs each, for a total of five UTAs. Each unit will conduct a minimum of 40 UTAs annually. Additional UTAs may be scheduled and are strongly encouraged. Cadets and members of the USAC Officers’ Corps, are expected to attend a minimum of 75% of all scheduled UTAs, except civilian personnel, who have no minimum UTA requirements. Personnel who fail to maintain satisfactory attendance, and who do not respond to counseling or other measures to improve attendance, will be recommended for discharge by the Unit Commander. It is recognized that some members may occasionally miss a UTA for a number of valid reasons, including illness, injury, family plans, employment conflicts or other circumstances beyond a member’s control. Failure to attend scheduled UTAs for these reasons, and other reasons as determined acceptable by the Unit Commander, will be considered an “excused” UTA. Excused UTAs will be counted as absences when determining satisfactory annual attendance, unless made-up through a Split Training Assembly (STA). An STA is performed in lieu of attendance at a regularly scheduled UTA. This is, essentially, a means to “make-up” for missing the UTA. STAs must be coordinated and approved by the unit chain of command and must include activities which are of benefit to the Cadet. Commanders will use STAs to make-up for an absence at a UTA due to sports, vacations, jobs or other social, academic or family activities. |
