Parade Rules - (Participation in the parade indicates your agreement to follow these rules).

1.    HOLD HARMLESS DECLARATION - All participants must sign a release form holding the U.S. Army Cadet Corps and the City of Millersburg harmless for any loss of property or person during the parade. If the parade participant is a minor, under age 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the release form provided specifically for minors.  Please appoint someone to collect and turn in the releases at the sign-in.

2.    The U.S. Army Cadet Corps reserves the right to reject any entry, which they deem inappropriate or not representative of this community celebration. This includes any and all organized groups, which appear to be participating for the purpose of protesting for or against a cause or promoting any political candidate..  All entries are to be “Family-Friendly” and suitable for all audiences. Playing music with vulgar lyrics and profanity is not allowed. Music must be suitable for a family audience. Gory, vulgar and bloody entries will not be allowed

3.    Improper use of the American flag is prohibited.

4.    If you have people walking with your float, truck, etc., no jumping on or off any moving vehicle.  Please wait until the vehicle is at a complete stop.

5.    Children who are riding on floats, trailers, trucks, etc. must be accompanied by adults at all times.

6.    No littering either at the line up or down the parade route. We are guests of the Millersburg and want to leave the town clean.

7.    If you break down during the parade, please move over to the side of the road as soon as possible.

8.    Main Street is also U.S. 68 and is the main route for emergency vehicles traveling to Paris or Lexington from surrounding counties. Emergency service agencies have been notified of an alternative route, however, if an ambulance or other emergency vehicle approaches during the parade, pull over as far as possible to the right and stop, or otherwise follow directions given by the parade marshals and/or police.

 9.    No use of alcohol or other controlled substances by parade participants.

10. Maintain a distance of 2-3 car lengths between your entry and the one in front of you.

11. All horse entries must provide their own “pooper-scooper” capability and clean up after themselves.

12. All military units, i.e. Cadet organizations of all services, must strictly meet military grooming standards and wear the uniform according to standards of their respective service as a condition for participating in this parade.  Please ensure proper haircuts before the parade.  The uniform of the day for the U.S Army Cadet Corps members will be the Army Combat Uniform (fatigue uniform).  It is understood that other cadet and military organizations may have other standard uniforms for such events.  BDU’s or ACU’s are preferred but any authorized uniform of your respective organization may be worn as long as all members of your group are in the same uniform and all uniforms are worn in accordance with military standards.  Civilians should wear clothing which is in good taste with no offensive slogans or images.  Police organizations should wear their standard uniform as desired.

13. The parade will start at the corner of U.S. 68 and Old Millersburg Rd.  This is just before the bridge as you approach Millersburg from Paris.  Turn right next to the little deli where the large gravel pull-off is located. A sign-in desk will be located near that corner.  Parade units will then be lined up along Old Millersburg Rd.  The parade will end at the U.S Army Cadet Corps Headquarters and National Cadet Training Center, located on the right along Main Street, approximately 0.80 miles from the parade start point.  Parade participants are required to follow the entire parade route except in case of emergency or breakdown. We will have an alternate departure route at the end of the parade for the tractors since we do not want the tractors in the Training Center compound.  All other units are may either proceed from the parade endpoint into the U.S. Army Cadet Corps National Training Center (old MMI)  grounds for the activation ceremony, or depart from there as desired.  In addition to the activation ceremony to follow the parade, there will be an open house.  All are welcome.

14.  All parade vehicles will be insured for liability as required under KY state law and drivers will be appropriately licensed. Any entry deemed unsafe for any reason will not be allowed to participate.

The U.S. Army Cadet Corps  reserves the right to bar or remove from the parade any entry who refuses to follow all instructions from the parade officials or police, or who participates in any manner determined to be unsafe, at any time before assembly, during assembly or during the parade.
