Clergy, Attorneys and Medical PractitionersLike any organization, the USAC has a need for professionals with specialized skills to serve our membership. As a result, the USAC actively recruits clergy, medical professionals and attorneys to serve the national and local needs of our program. To become a USAC Chaplain, applicants must be an ordained, ecclesiastically-endorsed clergyperson from a denomination recognized by the Department of Defense (DOD) Armed Forces Chaplain’s Board. All Chaplains are assigned to HQ, USAC and may be assigned through Temporary Duty to a subordinate command at the battalion level or higher. Doctors, Physician’s Assistants and Nurses must be currently licensed and eligible to practice in their state of residence. As with Chaplains, all Doctors, Physician’s Assistants and Nurses are assigned to HQ, USAC and may be assigned to a subordinate command at the battalion level or higher. Chaplains, medical professionals and attorneys must meet the same standards as the active Army. Therefore, they are available to the Army as “force multipliers” to support the Army where an active duty, reserve or National Guard Soldier is not available.
